NOTE: This is one of six articles in my Archives series from the mid 1990s, which were the very first columns that I ever wrote about the lifestyle. My writing style was awkward, fragmented, and not cohesive. So, if you really want to read these, here they are, but please forgive the peculiarities as representative of any writer’s early writing (usually pretty bad). I did not re-edit them, and you will find chunks from these in some later pieces. While I had experience in the lifestyle when I started writing these, I didn’t start Rose & Thorn, Vermont’s first BDSM group until 1999. These articles were published in a local ‘zine in Northern Vermont, for which I’ve forgotten the name.
