What Every Novice Dominant Should Have
In Their Bag-O-Toys
In response to my question about what things you think
should be in every Dom's little black bag, we've come up with the
following list. THANK YOU to everyone to contributed! Remember that this
list is for NOVICE Dom/mes so some of the more exotic things aren't
included. The key thing is to buy quality items from the beginning. You
get what you pay for, so better a few good items than a pile of junk.
Thank you to everyone for your ideas and
contributions!
~ Sadie

ESSENTIALS
"A persons best piece of equipment is their mind.
Reading and talking with people who are truly knowledgeable in the
lifestyle is the best piece of equipment. I would suggest that every new
Dom go out and get a mentor or two. Learn, listen, and check their ego
at the door. Listen to those who have made mistakes before them."
~ Eric

FUN TOYS
- Silk scarf or blindfold
- Pinwheel (everyone LOVES these!)
- Short & long floggers in a soft material like
deer or elkskin
- A car care (furry) mitt or rabbit fur
- Clothespins (if possible don't get the ones with
the notches on the thin side, they are cheaper and not as fun)
- Adjustable nipple clamps (the ones that have a
screw to adjust)
- Variety of flexible paddles - reader recommend
not starting out with wood - it's too hard
- Butt plugs (different sizes)
- Big soft feathers
- Riding Crop (Sadie likes the ones with the wide
end)
- Butt plug with a wide base that will fit into a
strap on
- A ruler - for those 'Catholic School' scenes, it
MUST be 18 inches!
- A metal or plastic fork (for scraping, poking,
prodding, the metal fork can be chilled or heated - wicked!)
- Chopsticks
- Collar and leash
- Leather thigh/wrist Velcro straps

PRACTICAL BONDAGE
- Quick releases (aka panic snaps) clamps (4 or
more) available at your local horse store (for clipping cuffs to
things) **Don't buy Regular two ended clamps - if the submissive/
bottom looses strength or "RED"s they require the Dom to
be either strong enough to over come what ever force is pulling on
them or the bottom is stuck
- Four or more heavy duty eyebolts for the walls
- Buckled (lined) leather ankle cuffs and wrist
cuffs (do NOT buy suspension cuffs - suspension is a higher-end
activity and should not be attempted by a novice - also cheap
handcuffs can get too tight and cut off circulation). Velcro works
very well too and is less expensive.
- Soft Nylon Rope (visit your local Tack Shop and
get perverted!!) recommended: 4 8-ft lengths of 1/4" or
3/8" braided nylon rope and 1 25-ft piece
- Don't forget the C-clamps, not all beds have
head or foot boards

SAFETY AND AFTERCARE
- Aloe Vera gel and/or lotion for Aftercare
- Bandage Scissors (the kind with one end blunt so
you can get it under ropes without piercing the skin)
- A box of latex gloves
- Water based lube
- Condoms (they are also wise to use on the dildos
and vibrators.) & Dental dams or Saran wrap (folded a few
times, it works just as well)
- Flashlight.. or some form of emergency lighting..
(lets face it, candle light is romantic, and very good for setting
a scene but VERY bad to see what you are doing in case of an
emergency.. )
- A sealed envelope, containing emergency info
(emergency contacts, list of medications taken, name of physician,
written and signed statement that you have engaged in CONSENSUAL
S/m activities with your partner, etc) to be given to EMT's or ER
doctor in case of injury
- First-Aid Kit (even experienced Doms make
mistakes) should contain;
- A small bottle of Hydrogen peroxide for
disinfecting any cuts or abrasions.
- A squeeze tube of Antiseptic, Anti-Bacterial
Ointment.
- A small bottle of Iodine.
- Two pairs of sterile rubber or Playtex gloves
to wear while treating injuries.
- Several square-cut gauze swabs.
- Several adhesive Band-Aids of varying sizes.
- Q-Tip swabs.
- Two or three large gauze squares for larger
bandages.
- A roll of sterile adhesive tape.
- A tweezers.

FAVORITE ITEMS FOR THE MORE
EXPERIENCED DOM/ME
- Double stitch webbing (it is wide and silky
smooth so it feels nice on the skin, CAUTION it has a breaking
strength of 6,000 pounds use wisely)
- Non-locking carbines (they are cheep and they are
intended to hold human weight, combined with the quick releases
you have a pretty safe hold)
- Emergency candles (the really cheap ones with no
color on them. they burn cooler, and let's not forget to test them
on yourself you Brave Dom)
- Dragons Tail (great for those who wan to use the
single tail. if you are new, wait before you go and get a single
tail there is a lot to learn)
- Quirt (back to the Tack Shop)
- A corset or two. Also, perhaps, a neck corset.
- Variety of Canes
- Variety of Whips
- Wooden paddles (Ping-Pong or wooden or hairbrush
- Lechters in the mall has small baking boards called "Oven
Shovels" that are perfect!)
- Vibrators: Readers favorites include: remote
vibrator/butterfly vibrator, eggs with controls on the cord,
Pocket Rocket (this is a small vibrator that can be used in many
places beyond the obvious)
- Texture Gloves (grooming glove from a tack shop)
- Head gear with a ball that fits in the mouth.
With all the hooks and ties on head gear it works great to hold
your sub captive.
- Spreader bar
- Saran Wrap
- Something to store all your gear in - a
"Bow" box (for bows and arrows) works very well

DEFINITELY
DO NOT BUY THESE ITEMS
- Gags, (a new Dom needs to hear the submissive
talk and their feedback
- Cheap whips or floggers - the material is rough
and can hurt your sub
- Handcuffs (they are for the police to use for
quick usage. NOT good for the new Dom, They hurt. and are only
good for resistance play)
- Poly Rope (that cheap hard to tie rope that is
plastic. EVIL stuff)
- Any rope over 15 feet (Pulling through 20 feet of
rope, no matter how slow, will cause a burn)
