See some of his beautiful photography AbsoluteW owns and runs: AbsoluteW and wild1{AW} are partners in running a
company called Web Realities
Sadie: You are a DJ for Dominate Radio. How did you get involved in such an unusual hobby? AbsoluteW: "I wandered into some smaller internet radio rooms here on irc.bondage.com and eventually decided to try my hand at DJing. I was always told I had a good voice for radio, and My background as an entertainer made the transition pretty easy. I Djed for 2 smaller stations before moving up to Dominate Radio. I found the smaller stations poorly organized and did not enjoy that. Dominate Radio on the other hand is very well organized and well run, which makes DJing here a pleasure." Sadie: What kind of music do you play? AbsoluteW: "I play a little of everything really. On Sunday nights from 11 PM to 1 AM I play comedy cuts. On My other 2 shows, Tuesday morning 1 AM to 3 AM and Thursday 8 PM to 10 PM I play anything from 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, Classic Rock, Alternative, you name it. I’m not much for Techno or Heavy Metal, but I will play it if requested." Sadie: Do you have any favorite music that has a BDSM theme? AbsoluteW: "Not really. Nine Inch Nails is always good. Many artist’s songs have lyrics that can be interpreted and BDSM, although mainstream ‘vanilla’ listeners may not recognize them as such. My most recent favorites would be Vast, ‘Pretty When You Cry’, and Puddle of Mud ‘Control.’" Sadie: What kind of other things do you include, such as interviews or other information? AbsoluteW: "I am well known among regular listeners as the DJ that features Weird News…strange but true news stories that I gather from various sources on the web and read to the listeners, often injecting my own comments about the stories." Sadie: How can listeners find your radio show on the website? What time is it on? AbsoluteW: "The Dominate Radio Website has a schedule page where you can always find out when any DJ is on." Sadie: What keeps you passionate about being a DJ in the BDSM scene? AbsoluteW: "Well, we don’t get paid, so there is only one answer for that…it’s fun!! We have almost total freedom with our content…no censorship to speak of. And, we have a great group of folks at Dominate Radio…listeners and Djs, which makes it very satisfying." Sadie: The idea of a web radio station specializing in the BDSM scene is a bit unusual. To what do you attribute the success of the station? AbsoluteW: "The answer is freedom of content, very creative DJs, and good management. The 2 hardest workers for the station day to day are trelaina {R} who manages the station and Darksage who makes most of the ads and station Ids. [Ed. Note: The bracketed initial is the IRC chat convention for indicating ownership] There are many more behind the scenes that work hard as well. And I find that most real life BDSM folks are caring, genuine people, and I believe that carries over to the station." Sadie: There's a chat feature on the website. What kind of feedback do you get from your listeners? AbsoluteW: "#DominateRadio is one of the largest channels on irc.bondage.com, and that definitely contributes to the success of the station. The fact that listeners can come into our channel and make direct requests to the DJs or chat about the songs or subject matter being broadcasted is great and definitely makes it more of an interactive experience." Sadie: You live on the east coast now, although you have lived all over the United States. Have you found any regional differences in the BDSM scene? AbsoluteW: "Well California definitely had a good BDSM community going on. I live in Virginia now, which is where I grew up, and I would have to say that in general the scene here is very weak. My slave real life slave jannah and I have found almost no scene here that we can relate to, which I attribute to the extremely conservative political climate in this state." Sadie: You used to be a professional musician. What kind of music did you make? Do you play your own stuff on the radio? AbsoluteW: "In the 30 years that I was a professional musician I played in all kinds of bands…Rock and Roll, country, Jazz, Top 40, and Originals bands. Every once and a while I will play a recording of something I did in the past on the station, but not too often. Once or twice I played some live flute on the air too." Sadie: What kind of requests do you most often receive? AbsoluteW: "Anything and Everything. I like playing requests of all kinds, and take a certain amount of pride in My ability to quickly find and play just about any request given." Sadie: How would you describe your BDSM orientation? Any favorite kinks? AbsoluteW: "I have an interest in John Norman’s Gor series of books (I have collected all of them), although I rarely participate in any online Gor because I find most of it unfaithful to the books." Sadie: You write that, "There is something so natural about a man being in control of a woman; sort of a caveman thing I guess." Of course you probably realize how sexist that sounds, and actually a bit odd considering how many Female Dominant/Male Submissive couples there are. Have you also explored being submissive? AbsoluteW: "Well I am a Dominant Male all the way. I have no inclination to switch at all. I did try it once at the request of a partner and both of us found it funny. It didn’t work because it was totally play acting for both of us, since I since I was really only a Dom and she was really only a sub. "And if I sound sexist with My caveman comment then so be it. I make no apologies for it, yet at the same time I would certainly not try to convince others that My point of view is right for them. It is the way I am but that doesn’t mean I think everyone should be that way. One of the things that makes the world interesting is diversity." Sadie: One of your hobbies is photography. Do you do fetish photography? AbsoluteW: "Yes I do, although finding suitable models is becoming harder and harder here in Virginia." [Ed. Note: samples of his photography are up with his interview at www.sensuoussadie.com in the SCENEprofiles Interviews section] Sadie: Part of your work at Dominate Radio is to create Station ID's and maintain the schedule for sponsor's advertisements. Can you explain what all this means? AbsoluteW: "Well I wouldn’t call it work…everything I’ve created for the station I did for fun. I try to inject my sense of humor into Station ID's. Darksage actually makes most of them but I enjoy making them occasionally and hopefully they are funny and enjoyable to the listeners. "Since I am a website designer it made it easy for me to take on the task of organizing the advertisement schedule and updating a web page that the DJs can consult to keep up with changes in the ads schedule." Sadie: Is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers? AbsoluteW: "Only that if they have not heard Dominate Radio yet they should give it a try…they may find that it is a genuinely new form of entertainment and relaxation beyond the normal TV, movies and music. And it is rarely boring! Sadie: Thank you very much for chatting with me! Please click on the thumbnails to
